Reasons for travelCustoms requirements
Holiday/Temporary stayIf you are travelling to the UAE for a holiday you will need to provide a copy of your passport.  
StudentsIf you are travelling to the UAE to study, you will need to provide a copy of your passport and a letter from your place of study confirming attendance, the course to be studied and the lenght of the course. If your shipment exceeds a value of 1000 AED, you will need to provide your Named Residence or Employment Visa. 
Returning residentIf you are a resident who is returning to the UAE to live, you will need to provide a copy of your passport and your Residence or Employment Visa
Working AbroadIf you are travelling to the UAE for work, you will need to provide a copy of your passport. If your shipment exceeds a value of 1000 AED, you will need to provide your Named Residence or Employment Visa. 
RelocationIf you are emigrating to the UAE, you will need to provide a copy of your passport. If your shipment exceeds a value of 1000 AED, you will need to provide your Named Residence or Employment Visa. 

– The value of goods that can be importred duty free is is 1,000 AED.  
– Documents in the shipper’s name will be rejected by customs.
